Ameise® electric pallet trucks: transport goods with minimal effort

Transporting heavy loads is made much easier with electric pallet trucks from Ameise®. These industrial trucks save energy and relieve strain on the back and joints. Thanks to their compact design, they offer a high degree of flexibility in confined spaces. Find the right electric Ameise® product for your needs with our buying guide.

1. What are the distinguishing features of an Ameise® electric pallet truck?

Ameise® electric pallet trucks are solid entry-level models in pedestrian operation that are suitable for light use over short distances indoors or, depending on the model, indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). These pallet trucks enable you to pick up, transport and transfer heavy loads in an ergonomic and effort-saving way. They overcome thresholds, smaller obstacles and slight inclines (less than 5%). Depending on the model, Ameise® e-trucks are powered either by maintenance-free lead gel batteries or innovative lithium-ion batteries.

In our online shop you can buy electric Ameise® trucks in two basic models:

  • Electric Ameise® with semi-electric operation: Here the driving mechanism is powered by a drive motor. The loads are raised and lowered manually (hand-hydraulic lift).
  • Electric Ameise® with fully electric operation: In this case, both the driving and lifting as well as the lowering functions are operated by an electric motor (electro-hydraulic lifting). You can conveniently control these functions via the operating elements on the ergonomically shaped tiller.
Ameise® PTE 1.3 electric pallet truck – lithium-ion

Unlike our Ameise® stacker trucks, Ameise® electric pallet trucks can only lift loads close to the ground, up to a maximum height of 195mm. The centre of gravity of each Ameise® truck is therefore in the centre of the wheel base. Electric pallet trucks from Ameise® also have a narrower design, which is particularly advantageous when there is limited space available.

Our electric Ameise® pallet jacks are operated with a tiller in walk-behind mode, i.e., the operator walks in front of or next to the device. For this purpose, each electric Ameise® truck is equipped with a long, low-mounted towbar. By swivelling the towbar, the steering wheel is moved in the desired direction of travel.

To ensure that you work safely with an Ameise® electric pallet jack, each device is equipped with several safety features depending on the model:

  • Long, low-set towbar ensures safe distance between operator and vehicle
  • Steel cover on the drive wheel protects against injuries in the foot area
  • Crawl speed button for safe manoeuvring of the vehicle with raised tiller in confined spaces

2. How to find the right electric Ameise® pallet jack for your needs

Every electric Ameise® pallet truck from Jungheinrich impresses with its versatility: the trucks can not only be used as industrial trucks in warehouses and sales areas, but depending on the model, can also be mounted on trucks and lorries. A benefit and function analysis will help you find the right electric Ameise® for your needs:

  • What kind of environment will the electric Ameise® truck be used?
  • Is a semi- or fully electric model required?
  • What is the maximum load weight the unit should be able to carry?
  • What fork length and width is required?
  • Are special functions such as battery change systems, crawl speed buttons, curve control or PIN code access needed to work more efficiently?

Select an Ameise® electric pallet truck suitable for your operating area

All electric Ameise® pallet jacks from our shop can be used in versatile and efficient ways in warehouses, logistics systems or in sales rooms. However, in order for the devices to meet the various requirements of the place and purpose of operation, they should be selected appropriately:

Drive: to what extent should an electric Ameise® pallet truck assist you in handling pallets?

We offer Ameise® pallet trucks in semi- or fully electric drive models. The difference between the models lies in the scope of the electric motor support for lifting and travel functions:

Ameise® PTE 1.1 electric pallet truck – lithium-ion, extra wide for special pallets
  • A semi-electric Ameise® tranfers linear energy through hydraulic cylinders, so you have to make several pump strokes with the tiller to lift heavy loads from the ground. However, the electric motor assists you when the electric Ameise® is moved from a stationary position. In this way, the electrically assisted driving function provides noticeable relief when moving palleted goods.
  • An electric Ameise® pallet jack with fully electric operation enables you to effortlessly raise or lower a load simply by pressing a button: the motor moves the forks up or down without the need of muscle power. With these models, effort-saving and ergonomic transport, lifting and lowering is possible. Electric pallet trucks from Ameise® with fully electric drive are therefore ideal for short distances and frequent use (depending on the model). For optimum driving and cornering stability, some models are optionally available with lateral support rollers.

Both types of drive operation in these electric Ameise® products are provided by a DC motor. Here, the torque is generated by the attraction and repulsion of the stator and rotor of two magnetic fields. The motor is extremely robust, low-maintenance and economical and offers a high starting torque.

Good to know: With some electric pallet trucks from Ameise®, energy is recovered via a regenerative brake. This economical energy management ensures for a longer battery operating time.

Buy e-Ameise® with sufficient load capacity

Adhering to the maximum load capacity of an e-Ameise® truck is essential for the safe use. The models available from us can be loaded with load weights of 1100kg, 1300kg or 1500kg. To determine which electric Ameise® is most suitable for use in your business, take note of the average weight of the goods you are transporting as well as peak loads.

Fork lengths and widths: important for load dimensions and weight

Determining the right battery type for your electric Ameise® pallet truck

Our e-Ameise® – regardless of whether they are semi- or fully electric – are powered by a rechargeable battery or a rechargeable accumulator. Via integrated or external chargers, the rechargeable batteries can be recharged at a 230V socket. We stock electric Ameise® pallet jacks with two different battery types:

An external charger is included for recharging. Some electric Ameise® models also have an integrated charger. In companies where lifting and transporting loads is regularly carried out, it may also be useful to purchase an exchangeable battery for Ameise® lithium-ion pallet trucks: while one battery is in operation, the other is recharged with an external charger.

Regardless of the battery type, an electric Ameise® pallet jack can only be used in single-shift operation. This makes the units suitable for a low intensity use, which is approximately 600 to 800 operating hours per year. This corresponds to a daily operating time of about 2 to 3 hours and 10 to 15 pallets per hour (depending on the model).

Select tyres for electric Ameise® products according to requirements

Every electric Ameise® truck at Jungheinrich PROFISHOP has a drive wheel, support rollers and fork rollers. For the models Ameise® SPM 113 and Ameise® PTE 1.3 the fork rollers are additionally offered in a tandem version. The double castors distribute the weight better, which is why they are particularly suitable for use on uneven ground or when negotiating speed humps. This results in smooth running, stabile movement when transporting loads and also reduces wear on the individual rollers.

3. FAQ for Ameise® electric pallet trucks

An electric Ameise® or E-Ameise® is a semi- or fully-electrically driven pallet truck from Jungheinrich PROFISHOP. The term "Ameise®" is a registered trademark and is often also used synonymously to refer to any type of industrial pallet truck, regardless of brand.

Every e-Ameise® must be subjected to a PUWER regulation test at regular intervals. This is a legal requirement under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. A short operational test must also be carried out every day. This comprises of:

  • A visual inspection for externally visible damage or leaks
  • Start-up and braking test
  • Checking the hydraulics and oil level
  • Observation of the driving behaviour, especially during cornering and turning manoeuvres

Some electrically powered Ameise® trucks can be used outdoors temporarily in dry weather conditions. However, the units only achieve their maximum performance and service life when used in dry indoor conditions in the temperature range +5°C to +40°C. Use in damp environments should generally be avoided.
