How to find the right cold-water pressure washer

Our cold-water power washers are perfect for quickly and efficiently removing even the most stubborn of dirt. Unlike hot water pressure washers, cold water models are not equipped with a heat exchanger. Instead, water travels directly from the tap to the spray nozzle without being heated. All our cold pressure washers, manufactured by some of the most renowned brands in the business, can be operated in warm and cold weather. Depending on the model, they are suitable for use with hot tap water or preheated water from a tank, up to a temperature of 60 °C.

This makes many of our cold-water pressure washers suitable for professional and commercial use, as well as household cleaning jobs. Water pressure is typically sufficient to break up stubborn dirt and remove it completely – especially if a suitable cleaning agent is also used.

Examples of potential applications include:

  • Tiled flooring
  • Paving stones and pavements
  • Walls and facades
  • Solar panels
  • Wooden planks
  • Garden furniture
  • Playground equipment
  • Cars, trucks and bicycles

Please note: For surface disinfection and mould removal, a model from our hot-water pressure washer range might be more suitable, as only these effectively kill fungi and bacteria. Cleaning devices with hot water and steam operation are also more effective in removing stubborn greases and oils.

1. Select a cold-water pressure washer by flow rate and pressure

We offer cold-water power washers in two main performance ranges. In general, the higher the drive power, the higher the flow rate and the pressure of the device. At Jungheinrich PROFISHOP, you can choose from the following classes:

  • Performance: These cold-water pressure washers offer everyday performance and are suitable for use in the home, as well as in a professional environment. Performance devices are designed for frequent, typical use.
  • Professional: The pressure washers in this class are our highest-performing machines. This makes them suitable for the most demanding applications and continuous commercial use.

Pressure (model dependent) Flow rate (model dependent) Suitable for
100–150 bar

330–700 l/h

  • Occasional to frequent use
  • Cleaning of sensitive surfaces (e.g. tiles, stone slabs, cars, commercial vehicles, etc.)
  • Removal of moss, lichens, algae
  • Pipe cleaning
160–220 bar

600–2500 l/h

  • Frequent to continuous use
  • Cleaning of heavily and very heavily soiled surfaces
  • Durable surfaces (e.g. paving stones, pavements, walls, facades, concrete floors)

Many of our cold-water pressure washers in our online shop offer the option to adjust the flow rate and the pressure within a certain range. This allows the strength of the water jet to be adjusted to suit the surface being treated. In addition, you can also self-regulate the impact pressure during dirt removal by varying the distance between the spray nozzle and the surface. The smaller the distance, the more powerful the jet impact.

2. Select the best drive type for your cold-water power washer

We carry models with powerful electric motors in two operating classes, as well as high-pressure cleaners with combustion engines (petrol or diesel). The type of drive used is a key factor in a pressure washer’s performance:

  • Electric motor with 230 V mains operation: Low – medium power class
  • Electric motor with 400 V mains operation: Medium – high power class
  • Combustion engine (petrol or diesel): High – very-high power class

In addition to choosing the right performance class, a cold-water pressure washer should be suitable for the desired jobsite. Models with electric drive are emission-free and therefore can also be used indoors. However, combustion engine models are only suitable for outdoor areas or highly ventilated indoor industrial spaces.

3. Choosing a mobile or stationary pressure washer with cold water

All our cold-water pressure washers can theoretically be used on the move. Gasoline-powered devices with a vacuum function can even work completely independently of an electricity or water connection. Nevertheless, not all models are suitable for continuous mobile use. This depends mainly on the size and weight of the device:

  • Mobile cold pressure washers can be moved freely and flexibly for cleaning work. They are more compact and lighter than stationary models but usually do not offer the same power or performance.
  • Stationary cold pressure washers with steel frames are ideally used at a fixed location. These particularly powerful devices must be moved to the operating zone via rollers or pneumatic wheels. Repositioning is possible but the considerable weight makes frequent manoeuvring difficult.

4. Accessories for cold-water pressure washers

Our range of pressure washers can be used to clean floors, facades, and vehicles, among many other surfaces. To accommodate different surfaces, various cleaning attachments are available from Jungheinrich PROFISHOP.

These include surface cleaners with pressure control which offer a larger cleaning area than the standard spray and are suitable for cleaning terraces and floors, up to seven times faster. A rotating nozzle also prevents the displaced dirt from spreading.

Some models are available with a complete nozzle set and offer everything needed for household applications including a foam sprayer, a drain cleaning attachment and a surface cleaner.

If you want to use a cold-water power washer at higher pressures to remove heavy soiling, we also recommend wearing suitable protective equipment:

  • Goggles
  • Gloves
  • Respirators
