How to choose the right ride-on scrubber dryer

Scrubbing, mopping and vacuuming in a single cleaning machine: A battery-powered ride-on scrubber dryer is the optimal choice if you need to clean large indoor areas efficiently and thoroughly. In contrast to walk-behind scrubber dryers – which are suitable for smaller, cluttered or hard-to-reach areas – a ride-on floor scrubber featuring convenient operation, high speeds and high cleaning performance is ideal for wide open areas from 3000 m²/h to 10,000 m2/h. Suitable applications include the thorough cleaning of warehouses and logistics halls, shopping centres or event venues.

For the most effective cleaning, a ride-on floor scrubber machine not only removes dirt and particles from the floor, but also collects waste together with the dirty water, and deposits it immediately via the suction mechanism into the integrated dirty water tank. For extended usage, most devices feature large-capacity freshwater and dirty water tanks.

At Jungheinrich PROFISHOP, you can buy ride-on scrubber dryers with a range of operating widths and brushes that can be replaced without tools. Additional functions such as click-on/click-off systems, ec-H2O™ technology and automatic speed regulation make our models practical solutions for quick and convenient cleaning of various floor surfaces and environments.

1. Choose a ride-on scrubber dryer by brush type

From our robust range of ride-on scrubber machines, you can choose from one of two innovative brush technologies depending on the area of application, surface type and degree of soiling:

Brush technology Properties and areas of application
Disc brushes Disc brush of a scrubber dryer
  • Optimal cleaning mechanism for moderately dirty, smooth floors
  • Models equipped with one or two discs
  • Cleaning is done by the rotation and contact pressure of the brushes
  • For maintenance cleaning in noise-sensitive areas
Roller brushes Roller brush of a scrubber dryer
  • For deep cleaning work
  • Brush contact pressure approximately seven times higher than with disc brushes
  • High brush rotation speed
  • Coarse dirt is effectively absorbed
  • Cleans textured and uneven substrates
  • Also suitable for corners and edge areas

Some models from our shop also feature side scrubbing brushes. These increase the reach of the ride-on scrubber dryer and can remove dirt from edges and corners that are otherwise difficult for the main brushes to reach. This saves you time and eliminates the need for manual reworking.

2. Consider the working width, tank volume and performance of the scrubber dryer ride-on machine

Important criteria when purchasing a ride-on floor scrubber also include the area output, the working width and the tank volume. These factors have a direct influence on productivity, the suitable area of application and the operating time or duration of continual use.

Area performance indicates the theoretical area size that a ride-on scrubber dryer can clean per hour. The practical area performance is usually lower as it factors in the type and extent of the soiling. At Jungheinrich PROFISHOP, you can find models with a theoretical area output from approximately 3000 m²/h to 10,000 m²/h.

The working width also has a direct impact on area performance. In our range, you will find various models with working widths from 530 mm to approximately 1400 mm. Wider working widths are suitable for cleaning larger areas quicker and more efficiently, while smaller working widths are ideal for smaller and more constricted spaces.

Depending on the model, our ride-on cleaning equipment feature freshwater tank volumes between 70 and 300 l. The size of the freshwater tank usually correlates with the area performance. The larger the tank volume, the higher the area output as water will need to be replenished less frequently.

3. Determine any desired additional functions of the ride-on scrubber dryer

Many of our ride-on floor scrubbers are available with a wide range of additional functions. For example, the industrial sweepers and cleaners from Nilfisk® offer a spring-mounted scrubbing deck. The deck, which is coupled with a steering wheel, swivels optimally so that the suction bar always rests exactly on the water track. This means that no water is left behind, which reduces the risk of slipping and increases overall safety.

Almost all the ride-on scrubber dryers in our online range include additional optional functions designed to make floor cleaning more convenient, efficient and environmentally friendly. Additional features include:

  • The click-on/click-off system allows you to change brushes quickly and without tools. This increases flexibility and operational readiness, as well as saving preparation time.
  • Models such as the Nilfisk® ride-on scrubber dryer feature a built-in whisper mode. This technology reduces noise emissions during operation, meaning that they can be used for cleaning noise-sensitive areas without fear of disruption.
  • Many of our ride-on scrubber driers operate in a resource-saving and environmentally-friendly way thanks to ec-H2O™ technology. By electrically converting water into an innovative cleaning solution (as an alternative to chemical detergents) you save costs on cleaning agents and benefit from up to three times longer operating times per tank filling.
  • With the SmartFlow™ function of some of our models, the dosing of water and cleaning agents is controlled automatically, proportional to the working speed. This guarantees uniform cleanliness and optimal use of water even when driving around objects or slowing down to clean corners.
  • Automatic speed control automatically adjusts the driving speed of select ride-on scrubbers in our range to match the present cleaning conditions. This reduces energy consumption, improves cleaning performance and increases safety, as the machine automatically slows down in more challenging areas.
  • Dura-Track™ suction feet allow for improved suction power and leave the cleaned surfaces dry and safe to walk on, which is particularly advantageous in operating areas where there is high traffic.
