About Jungheinrich UK
Jungheinrich AG is one of the world's leading companies in the fields of forklift trucks, warehousing and material flow technology, employing more than 19,000 people.
It all began in a small production workshop in Hamburg in 1946. Dr Jungheinrich and his team developed innovative solutions that laid the foundation for the global corporation of today. The transport equipment and pallet trucks were marketed under the brand name Ameise®, which has since become a byword for practical and high-quality products. This resulted in a striking and appealing trademark that millions of employees in many companies have known and appreciated for decades. See Ameise®, which was also part of the economic miracle, was decisively influenced by the then Minister for Economic Affairs and later Chancellor Ludwig Erhard. Ameise® represents one of Jungheinrich's greatest moments, but it also stands for a commitment to innovative concepts and ideas that is still being lived today. Today, 73 years later, Ameise® is synonymous with pallet trucks and is sold exclusively by Jungheinrich PROFISHOP as ‘the original’.
The range includes the entire spectrum from manual to fully automated vehicles: from hand pallet trucks and electric reach trucks, both of which can be traced back to the inventive spirit of the company's founder Dr. Friedrich Jungheinrich, to the EKX high-rack stacker and driverless transport systems such as the automated tow tractor EZS 350a, both of which are considered benchmarks in their respective classes. In line with its growth strategy, Jungheinrich has expanded its logistics system business and successfully positioned itself worldwide as a system provider for intelligent intralogistics. This means the customised planning, project planning and realisation of complete, fully automated warehouses with sophisticated process chains using the entire range: semi- and fully automated industrial trucks, racks and stacker cranes, as well as software, digital solutions and services. Jungheinrich offers its customers everything from a single source and optimally coordinated.
In addition, the company's own energy expertise has been significantly expanded in recent years: Jungheinrich not only manufactures electric motors and drive controls, but also the matching batteries and chargers – with the aim of maximising the energy-efficient performance of all its trucks. In particular, Jungheinrich's own research and manufacturing activities in the field of lithium-ion technology have given it a leading position in the industry. Since 2017, almost all trucks have been offered with lithium-ion batteries. A dedicated battery production facility has been set up at the Norderstedt plant for this purpose. In total, more than one million Jungheinrich electric trucks are in use in warehouses around the world.
Jungheinrich manufactures at ten production sites: The Norderstedt plant, just outside Hamburg, produces high-lift trucks, reach trucks and order pickers, with the one millionth truck already produced in 2017. In Moosburg in Bavaria, the company manufactures counterbalanced trucks, while high-rack stackers are produced at the neighbouring Degernpoint plant. In Landsberg, near Halle (Saale), low-platform trucks are produced, while in Lüneburg, south of Hamburg, special-purpose trucks are primarily manufactured. The reconditioning of used forklifts for resale takes place in a specially designed plant near Dresden. The production plant in Qingpu (Shanghai) manufactures battery-powered counterbalanced trucks as well as stacker and low-platform trucks. At the second Chinese plant in Kunshan, load handling devices and rack servicing equipment are produced. The latter are also produced in Gyöngyös, Hungary. A plant is currently being built in Poland.
In view of the growing after-sales services business, Jungheinrich has some 4,900 service engineers deployed around the world. The fully automated spare parts centre in Kaltenkirchen, north of Hamburg, and other regional warehouses around the world ensure that spare parts can be delivered within 24 hours in Europe and Asia, 365 days a year.
The direct sales network, with its own sales and service companies, spans 39 countries worldwide, with current expansions in Colombia, Peru and Ecuador. In over 80 other countries, the Jungheinrich product range is distributed by partner companies.
The Group's strategy is geared towards sustainable, profitable growth and thus increasing the value of the company. The goal is to become the number one brand for intralogistics in all European markets and, in the long term, to be among the top 3 global providers. In 2020, the company aims to achieve consolidated group revenue of €4 billion. In 2017, the family-owned company with over 16,000 employees generated revenue of €3.4 billion. Jungheinrich has been a listed company since 1990 and is included in the MDAX.
