1. Select safety mirrors by type

In companies that import and export a lot of materials or goods, industrial trucks often share roads and footpaths with other vehicles such as stacker trucks and private cars, as well as crossing pedestrians.

This requires strict coordination of traffic routes and clear visibility at all times. To this end, any permanent and temporary buildings, as well as onsite operating equipment must be considered: Machines or storage containers can hugely impair the sightlines of outdoor areas, while heavy-duty racks and narrow passageways can restrict visibility indoors.

The installation of safety mirrors is often not only sensible but can also be necessary in the context of occupational safety and accident protection. Dome mirrors can be mounted directly to the wall, on heavy-duty shelving or suspended from the ceiling, depending on the needs and constraints of a particular space. The versatility of these mirrors can provide an ideal, needs-based overview of every traffic situation. 2. Traffic mirrors: to install indoors or outdoors?

If you want to install a traffic mirror outdoors, a model with special material properties such as extra durability or weather resistance may be necessary. However, all our industrial safety mirrors are suitable for indoor installation. The acrylic glass of most models, which is 70% more impact-resistant than conventional glass, is scratch-resistant and allows for a clear and distortion-free view. In areas protected from wind and adverse weather, or with a suitable canopy, interior safety mirrors can also be used outdoors.

Traffic mirrors, which are only suitable and approved for outdoor use, are characterized by high weather resistance and are also resistant to UV radiation. This is achieved through a special coating made of UV-stable acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). This coating also protects against fogging or icing, as well as ensuring high impact resistance.

All this means that these industrial mirrors are suitable for gravel driveways or roads where impact from small stones is likely. Vandal-proof design and high-quality workmanship guarantee that our safety mirrors remain safe and secure for a long time.

3. Buy safety mirrors with the appropriate observer distance and curvature angle

In the Jungheinrich PROFISHOP range, safety mirrors are available with an observer distance of 1 m to 27 m and a viewing angle of either 90°, 180° or 360°. In general, the following applies:

• Observation distance: The mirror diameter should be adjusted to the distance separating the observer from the mirror. The smaller the mirror, the shorter the observer distance. If you want to be able to see a larger room area, a model with a larger diameter is required.
• Curvature angle: In addition to the observer distance, the curvature of the mirror surface also determines the number of directions that can be observed simultaneously (90° = two directions, 180° = three directions, or 360° = four directions).
