Electric tugs

With a tow tractor from our range, you can add a compact and powerful device to your industrial truck fleet that is specially designed for space-saving and manoeuvrable pulling and pushing of mobile load carriers weighing up to 1000 kg. Equipped with an emission-free electric motor and a powerful lithium-ion battery, the electric tug offers long operating times.

Compared to an electric tow tractor, which has larger vehicle dimensions and offers a sitting or standing position for the operator, a towing aid is the more compact choice. The small warehouse tugs are purely pedestrian-operated devices that do not require a forklift licence to operate. The pulling aid is guided by hand, while the electric drive takes over the towing work.

Our towing aids are versatile and can be used for indoor and outdoor towing work. They can be combined with various coupling systems and transport lattice trolleys, vehicle trailers, various roll containers or waste containers.

1. The advantages of a pulling aid for warehousing, retail and logistics

An electric tug vehicle can be used in many operating environments and applications and offers many advantages:

• Compact design: The small tractor with electric drive is compact, making manoeuvring easier, even in tight bends.
• Ergonomic pulling and pushing: With the electric tug, the motor does the heavy lifting for you and your employees. This makes the device one of the most ergonomic work tools in logistics.
• Single-person operation: Every hand-operated tug in our range is easy and efficient to use. Coupled to a tugger train, one person can move a large quantity of goods with the small electric power tug. Device access can be protected by a PIN.
• Traction on uneven surfaces: The robust tyres with optimum traction also enable safe use on slightly uneven surfaces, such as outdoors. Some models can even cope with inclines.
• Long-term cost efficiency: When you buy a Jungheinrich tow truck, you benefit from a robust, low-maintenance and powerful device.

2. Selecting an electric tug with the right clutch

With different couplings, you can use your small electric tug with various trailer types. The small stock tractor is available with these couplings:

Coupling for LKE trailers	The coupling is specially designed for LKE trailers and is ideal for rollable small load carriers such as Taxiliners and X-Frame-based trolleys. The high directional stability of the coupling ensures stable, in-line tracking during transport. The height of the coupling arm is adjustable from 135–285 mm.
Coupling for square profiles	The standard coupling is suitable for a wide range of rollable load carriers that have a square profile. The coupling is designed for profile edges from 5–60 mm deep; the mechanical adjustment is made in 5 mm increments. The height of the coupling arm is adjustable from 85–235 mm.
Coupling with socket pin	This coupling is used to transport rollable load carriers with a round drawbar eye. The pin is secured with a split pin. The coupling pin has a diameter of 20 mm and the height of the coupling arm is adjustable from 150–250 mm.

The following also applies to couplings with plug-in bolts and square profiles: For better tracking, the load carriers must be equipped with two swivel castors on the coupling side and two fixed castors on the rear side of the wagon. This ensures stable, straight-ahead travel and good manoeuvrability during transport.

All couplings can also be retrofitted separately as accessories, allowing you to extend the range of applications for your pulling aid if required.
