How to find the right manual pallet stacker

If you occasionally need to move, lift and lower loads of up to 1,000kg in your business, our powerful hydraulic pallet stackers – also known as manual stacker trucks or hand hydraulic stackers– are a worthwhile alternative to electric pallet stackers. Unlike their electric counterparts, manual pallet stackers are made from torsion-resistant profile steel and are operated exclusively by hand, either by pulling and pushing with the tiller or using the large tubular push handles mounted at handle height.

Lifting and lowering is carried out with a hydraulic pump: pumping the tiller or, alternatively, using the foot pedal pressurises the oil. The pump then transfers the hydraulic pressure to the pistons and piston rods to raise and lower the load carrier. Hand hydraulic stackers are particularly robust, durable and low maintenance.

Depending on the model, a Plexiglas shield or metal grille protects the operator from falling goods and prevents from accidental reaching into the mast. You can find manual pallet stackers in many different versions in the online store to suit your needs.

1. Why choose a hydraulic pallet stacker

Hydraulic stacker trucks offer a lifting height of up to 3,000mm (depending on the model). This makes these industrial trucks extremely versatile, allowing loads to be stored and retrieved at higher rack levels with ease. Thanks to the pedal and the infinitely adjustable lowering valve, loads can be set down with millimetre precision and without jolting. Since the trucks are operated without batteries, they are also ready for immediate use at any time.

Our manual pallet stackers offer even more advantages:

  • Low tare weight: Manual hydraulic stackers have a lower tare weight compared to electric stackers, meaning they can also be used in weight-sensitive areas such as on mezzanine floors.
  • Compact design: Thanks to their low overall height, most manual hydraulic stackers fit through almost any doorway and therefore allow for varied use, such as in warehouses or in shipping.
  • Lower acquisition costs: Compared to electric forklifts, manual stacker trucks are significantly more affordable. Furthermore, they don’t require electricity to operate and are low maintenance overall, which means minimal operating costs.

2. Choosing a hydraulic stacker truck with the right mast

The frame, centre supports, and forks of our hydraulic stacker lifts are made of torsion-resistant sectional steel. This makes the trucks especially robust, so that loads can be securely lifted to a height of 3,000mm. The maximum lifting height depends on the mast type. Jungheinrich PROFISHOP offers manual forklift stackers with the following mast versions:

Lift mast Details Lifting heights that can be achieved (depending on model selection)
Single mastAmeise® PSM 1.0/1.5 hydraulic stacker truck with single mast
  • Fixed outer mast with mobile lift carriage
  • Does not change the overall height during use
  • Available with integrated quick-lift function for loads up to 100 kg
  • 1,000mm, 1,600mm
Double telescopic mast Ameise® PSM 1.0 hydraulic stacker truck with two-stage telescopic mast
  • Double telescopic extension
  • One movable inner mast with fixed outer lifting frame
  • Two-stage lift enables stacking and unstacking at greater heights
  • Models with 400 mm free lift available
  • 2,000mm, 2,500mm, 3,000mm

Please always note the residual load capacity, which depends on the lifting height and the load centre distance. You can find more information on this in our guide to the load capacity for industrial trucks.

3. Specialised hydraulic stacker trucks: Wide-track stackers

Our manual pallet stackers with a wider wheel arm spacing of 1,250mm are the right choice if you want your hand hydraulic stacker to be suitable for different pallet types. The devices not only allow you to pick up Euro pallets or mesh boxes lengthwise or crosswise but are also suitable for picking up pallets in wider special sizes. The hydraulic stacker truck in wide-track design with single mast reach a lifting height of 1,600mm and transport loads of up to 1,000kg horizontally and vertically.

4. Selecting the tyre type for steering and load wheels

Our manual stacker trucks come fitted as standard with two swivel castors and either single fork or tandem fork rollers. The castor tyres run smoothly and are designed for use on level, solid surfaces. The following tyre materials are available from Jungheinrich PROFISHOP so that you can adapt the tyres of your manual pallet stacker to the floor and environmental conditions in your work environment:

Tyres Material Properties Application
Polyurethane (PU)
  • Particularly flexible and resistant
  • Low running noise
  • Shock absorbing
  • Low wear
  • High load capacity
  • Low rolling resistance
  • Non marking
  • Temperature resistant from -20 °C to +80 °C
  • Resistant to oil and grease
  • Long service life
  • On hard and sensitive floors
Nylon
  • Resistant to acids and alkalis
  • High running noise
  • More susceptible to impact
  • Low wear
  • Hard, abrasion resistant
  • Low rolling resistance
  • Non marking
  • Temperature resistant from -40 °C to +90 °C
  • High surface pressure
  • In the food and chemical industries
  • On smooth and even floors
  • Only suitable to a limited extent on soft or pressure-sensitive floors (e.g., tiles)

For maximum work safety, the swivel castors on our manual pallet stackers come equipped with foot protection and mechanical wheel locks.
